Dave Harrell Balsa Missile Float
Â
The Dave Harrell Balsa Missile is a great float for targeting barbel in fast shallow water. Theres a lot more to it than just barbel fishing though as it’s also the perfect float for chub and indeed any fast water situation where buoyancy and visibility are the key requirements.
The tip of these fishing floats are extremely visible, even in low light conditions, so you are able to dot these river floats to a pimple and still be able to see them at the end of your swim. The tip of these floats is also incredibly buoyant allowing you to drag large baits over depth without having to worry about your float being dragged under from the weight of the hook bait. Dave Harrell recommends using this float with an inline olivette rather than a bulk of shot as its much less tangle probe this way and casts much better too. Below the olivette, which is fixed about 18 inches to two foot from the hook, it is recommended to use one shot, which is usually a No4 or a No1. When using big baits like pellets, meat, corn and bread it’s often better to just have the bulk about a foot to eighteen inches above the hook with no drop shot. Available in sizes from 3g to 10g, the Dave Harrell Balsa Missile Float is a must have addition to any anglers coarse fishing tackle.
